Roma History

The foundation of Roma dates back to the early 1920s when three football clubs in Rome, Fortitudo, Alba, and Roman, merged to form AS Roma. The club was formed with the aim of competing against the established northern Italian clubs. In the 1980s, the club enjoyed its most successful period, winning their first Serie A title in the 1982-83 season. They followed that up with another title in 1985 and reached the final of the European Cup in 1984, where they lost to Liverpool on penalties.
