Manchester City History

Manchester City was formed in 1880, under the name St. Marks, after an initiative by Arthur Connell and his daughter. After going through multiple name changes, they eventually changed their name to Manchester City in 1894. They then later moved to Hyde Park, and by 1899, they had not only earned a promotion to the First Division, but they were also the biggest club in Manchester. In 1904, Manchester City won their first FA Cup final, and in 1923, the club moved to Maine Road after a fire had destroyed a stand at Hyde Road.

In 1934, City won their second FA Cup, and 3 years later, they won the First Division trophy for the first time by scoring over 100 goals in a season. The next season, however, they were relegated to the second division, which was the first time a reigning champion was demoted.

Manchester City then went into a long period of decline. In the next 3 decades, they went on to win one FA Cup. In 1965 however, they appointed Joe Mercer as manager and, within 6 years, won a First Division title, both English Cups and a Cup Winners Cup. After his spell, they fell back into mediocrity. In 1999 they won promotion back to the First Division and went into the Premier League. They were then relegated from the Premier League but bounced back after one season in the championship.

In 2008, they were taken over by Sheik Mansour and began a period of great success. Since the takeover Manchester City has won 7 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 6 League Cups, and 1 Champions League.

They have also won 1 Cup Winners Cup, 6 Community Shields and 7 FA Cups. Manchester City have also won 8 EFL Cups which makes them the 2nd most successful club in this competition behind Liverpool. They have also won the English 2nd Tier Division twice and have most recently won their 1st ever Champions League. Last season they won the treble and completed 3 title wins in a row. Manchester City 2023/24 Season Prediction

This season we predict Manchester City will compete on all fronts once again. WIth players such as Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne and Pep Guardiola as their manager they will have a world class squad and will be a threat once again. This season other teams around them will strengthen which may make it more difficult or lower the amount of trophies they could win, however, with that being said Manchester City are so dominant we wouldn’t be surprised if they won the league and picked up another domestic trophy along the way.
