Every one of these games will be thrilling as every team will be looking to start the season off strongly. Every team will have extra drive to make sure they win their opening game. These matches also allow fans to watch new signings and any new tactics developed in pre-season. Some of the most exciting games on display in the opening fixtures will be Marseille vs Reims, Nice vs Lille and PSG vs Lorient. PSG have such a wealth of quality in their side and watching them regardless of opposition always makes for an enjoyable spectacle. Then there is Marseille vs Reims and Nice vs Lille. These two fixtures will contain some of the teams that will look to push on and should make for high-octane, interesting matches, with Marseille always coming close to European contention.

Ligue 1 Final Day Fixtures

The final fixtures of the season make for some of the most exciting games of the season. Although this means that the league is over it provides one final opportunity to watch some of the most thrilling games of the season. As it is the last game of the season every team gives it there all to secure the final 3 points. Teams that have their fates unsealed may use this opportunity to play some youngsters which allows fans to see some exciting upcoming talent. The fixtures being played during this gameweek will be.

During this gameweek titles can be decided, European spots are finalised and the clubs that go down are decided. This is another factor which makes this gameweek one of the most exciting. Trophy lifts take place on this day along with relegation escapes.

Some of the fixtures to look out for are Reims vs Rennais and Metz vs PSG. Reims and Rennais are two teams that could be pushing for European spots such as the Europa League and the third instalment of the Europa Conference League, won most recently by English Premier League side, West Ham..

The other game is PSG vs Metz. PSG will be title favourites this season and therefore they should be in a title race come the end of the season.  Last season the Ligue 1 title came down to the final day of the season and if this is the case again then the final game for PSG will be a very important and dramatic game.

Ligue 1 Winners 2023/24

PSG are always nailed on favourites, with an amazing squad full of world class players and a very large budget they are one of the greatest teams in the world. This transfer window has gone very well for PSG so far. Despite losing Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi, PSG have been able to bring in promising midfielder Ugarte, Lucas Hernandez, Hugo Ekitke, Kang-in Lee, Skriniar and Marco Asensio. They have brought in some world class players as well as some very promising up and coming talents. There are never really any other shouts, with teams like Rennes having an incredible season and still not escaping 4th place.

European Places in the 2023/24 Ligue 1

While perennial powerhouses like Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon are expected to be in the mix, several other teams have emerged as formidable challengers. AS Monaco, led by a talented young squad, showcased their potential last season and are hungry for a return to European competition. Meanwhile, LOSC, the previous champions, are eager to claim their place as a top French team and make a mark in the Champions League. Additionally, Olympique de Marseille, rejuvenated under new management, have made significant investments in their squad and are determined to secure a European berth. The battle for European places promises to be fierce, with teams like Stade Rennais, OGC Nice, and FC Nantes also eyeing a spot on the continental stage. With thrilling encounters and intense competition, the Ligue 1 23/24 season is shaping up to be a thrilling ride as these ambitious teams vie for European glory.

Ligue 1 Top Goal Scorer Prediction

The top goalscorer next season we believe will be one of Mbappe, David, Ben Yedder and Habib Diallo. Jonathan David is one of the best upcoming strikers, a raw talent who is getting better every season. Last season he scored 24 goals and will only get better. Then there is Ben Yedder and Habib Diallo who are both strikers who we don’t necessarily think are the best strikers but are consistent goal scorers and with Luis Openda and Balogun leaving Lens and Reims, these 2 have an opportunity to try and push on next season to win the award. Then there is Mbappe. As of right now it’s looking more and more likely that Mbappe will leave PSG but if he stays he will undoubtedly be the top goalscorer. He is one of the best attackers in the world and plays in one of the best squads in the world.

Ligue 1 Most Assists Award Prediction

The front runners for the most assists award next season will most likely be Jonathan Clauss, Neymar Jr, Asensio, and Bourigeaud. Clauss and Neymar Jr, were joint second in terms of assists behind Lionel Messi who finished 1st with 16 assists. Now that Messi is leaving the league these 2 players have an opportunity to win the award. Neymar Jr will be the overall favourite but we Clauss will also be up there.

Then there is also Bourigeaud. Last season he got 10 assists and the season before he had 12. Every season he consistently provides multiple assists and will look to do the same this season. With Martin Terrier returning from injury, he will also now have more attacking options to supply who can finish his chances.

Marco Asensio is an unknown quantity in Ligue 1, he never put up incredible numbers in La Liga but now at PSG this could change. He’s not the favourite but a player fans should keep an eye out for as the season progresses.

An outside shout would have been Branco Van den Boomen of Toulouse, although he has since completed a move to Ajax in the Eredivisie. His team finished 13th last season, but he managed 5 goals and 8 assists on his own.

Ligue 1 Most Clean Sheets Prediction

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the favourite to win the golden glove award this season. At 24 years old he is one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world and plays in one of the best squads in the world. With an incredible defence in front of him we believe he will be favourite to win this award.

Alternatively Brice Samba is an outside shout. He won the award last season with 2 more clean sheets than Donnarumma, however Lens also had an incredible season. Whether or not Lens will be able to replicate that success is unknown and this could affect how many clean sheets he is able to keep.

Young Player of the Year for the Ligue 1 2023/24 Season

When it comes to players who could compete for the young player of the year the primary contenders are Nuno Mendes, Manuel Ugarte, Khephren Thuram of Nice, Rayan Cherki and Angel Gomes.

Nuno Mendes is a left-back who signed for PSG last season. Now a year into his PSG career he will look to cement a place in the starting 11 and push on and become one of the best left backs in Europe. If he is able to do this he will undoubtedly be in contention for this award.

Ugarte is a new signing for PSG and he is one many football fans around the world are excited to see. One of the best upcoming midfielders in many players eyes he will be one to watch.

Outside shouts based on previous seasons include Elye Wahi of Montpellier, who had a 24 G/A season despite finishing 12th in the league. Wahi is just 19 years old, and is close competition for a lot of the better players at other squads. 22-year-old Muhammed Cham of Clermont Foot is another outside shout; his partnership with Grejohn Kyei and Saiffe-Eddine Khaoui presented a combined 35 G/A season.

Our final prediction is England U23 Euros winner Angel Gomes. After an amazing international tournament he is set up to have an incredible season and win this award.

Relegation Battle for 2023/24’s Ligue 1 Season

Several teams will find themselves in precarious positions, desperately seeking to avoid the dreaded drop to Ligue 2. FC Nantes, having narrowly escaped relegation in the previous campaign, face another uphill battle to secure their top-flight status. Similarly, the newly promoted sides, such as Le Havre and Metz, will also face an uphill struggle to adapt to the intensity and quality of Ligue 1 football. Other teams that must tread carefully to avoid the drop include Brest, who experienced a challenging campaign in the previous season, and RC Strasbourg, who continue to stick in the bottom half of the 18-team table. As the fight for survival unfolds, the Ligue 1 23/24 season promises nail-biting drama and high stakes as these teams battle tooth and nail to secure their place in the top tier of French football.

Best Signings of the Ligue 1 Transfer Window

The transfer window isn’t over yet, and how it finishes can decide many teams’ future and upcoming seasons. It’s important for teams to recruit well in order to compete in the top division.
