Real Madrid History

The club was founded in 1902 as Madrid Football club and played its first official match in 1905. In 1902, the club was granted permission by King Alfonso XIII to add ‘Real’ to its name, which means ‘Royal’ in Spanish. 

Real Madrid won its first La Liga title in 1932 and went on to win four more titles in the 1930s. However, it was in the 1950s when Real Madrid truly established itself as one of the world’s top clubs. The team won five consecutive European Cups between 1956 and 1960, a feat that has never been matched. 

Real Madrid continued to be successful in the following decades, winning numerous domestic and international titles. In the early 2000s, Real Madrid adopted a ‘Galactico’ policy of signing the world’s best players, which led to the arrival of Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, and Ronaldo Feomeno, among others. This period was also marked by the team’s success in the UEFA Champions League, winning the title in 2000, 2002, and 2014, among others.

Carlo Ancelotti is one of the greatest managers of all time and he is the current manager of Real Madrid. He started his career at Reggiana before going to Parma and then Juventus. He then went to AC Milan. At AC Milan he won the Serie A, a Coppa Italia and 2 Champions Leagues as well as other trophies. He then went to Chelsea and did the double winning the Premier League and FA Cup. He then managed PSG and won Ligue 1 before moving to real madrid for the 1st time. Here he won a Copa Del Rey, Champions League and other trophies. He then won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich before going to Napoli and Everton. He then rejoined Real Madrid in 2021 where he has since won La Liga, Copa Del Rey and Champions League.

Their attack however, although high in quality lacks squad depth as of right now and only features Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Joselu.

Real Madrid this season will be nailed on for Champions League spots. They will also be title contenders alongside barcelona. This season they will look to have good cup runs and even try to win the Champions League, but in the league they will also look to reclaim the title. However due to their lack of depth upfront they might fall short to Barcelona who have legendary striker Lewandowwski.
