Celta Vigo Drama

In April of 2022 Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo 2-1 after being awarded 3 penalties. After the game Celta Vigo striker iago Aspas said ‘He (the referee) only needed the whistle for the fourth penalty to take it himself. It seems like a Benzema hat-trick is what he wanted and what he looked for.’ Celta Vigo fans, players and even the manager were all very upset as they believed the refereeing decisions were unjust in this fixture.

Celta Vigo has been for the most part an underwhelming La Liga club that have not contested for much silverware and are often in need of being promoted back into La Liga. They have won other trophies from lower divisions and have also won 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup and have finished runners up in the Copa Del Rey 3 times.

Celta Vigo 2023/24 Season Predictions

This season we predict Celta Vigo will finish mid-table. Last season Celta Vigo finished 13th 3 points off of relegation. In the previous season Celta Vigo finished mid-table and with an experienced manager joining the side we can only see them improving next season. We doubt they will contend for European football however they will be safe from the drop.
