Borussia Dortmund History

Borussia Dortmund was founded on December 19, 1909, by a group of young men who were unhappy with the way their local team was being run. They were originally called the “Borussia Football Club 09 Dortmund,” but they dropped the “Football Club” part of their name in 1913. In their early years, the team struggled to establish themselves as a top team in Germany, but they did manage to win their first national championship in 1956. However, it wasn’t until the 1990s that the team truly became a dominant force in German football. During this time, Dortmund won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 1995 and 1996, as well as the Champions League in 1997.

Due to the Bundesligas 50+1 rule Borussia Dortmund is fully owned by Borussia Dortmund e.V. This is an organisation designed to ensure that the sports club has full control over the playing staff. The owner structure is very complicated at Dortmund however the chairman is Hans-Joachm Watzke.

Borussia Dortmund’s current manager is Edin Terzic who has been manager since 23 May 2022. Borussia Dortmund 2023/24 Season Predictions

Borussia Dortmund were almost able to win the Bundesliga last season but missed out on the final day. This season they have strengthened their squad quite well bringing in Ramy Bensebaini, Marcel Sabitzer and Felix Nmecha. Despite bringing in 2 quality midfielders the loss of Jude Belllingham is huge. We predict that they will finish in the Champions League, however we are not sure if they have enough quality to win the league. They have lost Dahoud, Bellingham and they also lost Raphael Guerreiro to rivals Bayern Munich. It’s not that Borussia Dortmund’s squad isnt strong but that instead Bayern Munich’s team is simply much stronger. As a result of this we predict they will achieve Champions League football but just miss out on the league.
