Augsburg History

FC Augsburg has a long and storied history in German football. The club was founded in 1907 as FC Alemannia Augsburg, and they played their first official match in 1908 against FC 93 Munich. The club struggled to establish itself in the early years, but they eventually joined the top flight of German football for the first time in 1969.

However, the club was unable to maintain its top-flight status, and they bounced between the first and second tiers of German football for the next several decades. It wasn’t until the mid-2010s that Augsburg began to establish itself as a solid Bundesliga team.

Who Owns Augsburg

The club is owned by FC Augsburg 1907 GmbH & Co. KGaA, which is a joint stock company that is majority-owned by the former Augsburg player and businessman Walther Seinsch.

The club has a strong fanbase and a heated rivalry with fellow Bavarian club FC Nuremberg

Augsburg Manager

The current manager of Augsburg is Enrico Maassen, a German football manager who started his career at lower league german sides SV Drochtersen/Assel and SV Rodinghausen. He then became the manager of Borussia Dortmund’s reserve team, earning them promotion to 3. Liga. In June 2022 he became the manager of FC Augsburg and helped them avoid relegation last season.

Augsburg 2023/24 Season Predictions

This season we predict Augsburg will have another lower mid table finish. Their squad isnt of a very high quality and they have a relatively inexperienced manager. All these signs point to a side that should be battling relegation however we just believe that there are other teams that could have worse seasons, and their poor form will help keep them up.
